The video will play here Sunday morning. Depending on your browser, you might need to press play after we go live at 8:30am ET.

Our #NYTReadalong guest this week is Jim Heaney, editor and executive director of Investigative Post, the only nonprofit investigative reporting center serving Buffalo and Western New York. Neil Parekh will be the guest host.

Investigative Post is one of more than 400 nonprofit news organizations that have launched over the past decade across the nation in the face of the decline of local news outlets. They produce fact-based, nonpartisan investigative stories and analyses on issues that matter to the citizens and taxpayers of Buffalo and Western New York.

We'll be live at 8:30am ET on Sunday. You can also watch later, on demand.

About Investigative Post

Here are some key Investigative Post features we'll be discussing on Sunday.

Investigative Post launched 10 years ago today. In the succeeding years, our nonprofit newsroom has built a reputation for fact-based, high-impact reporting. More bad news regarding The Buffalo News (February 14, 2023)

Last week it was downsizing. Now, furloughs. And there's more: The slumping stock price of the paper's parent company and the prospect of being delisted from the stock exchange. Not even the vultures at Alden are interested in buying the chain anymore.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants everyone to know he’s spending $1 billion to revitalize the Western New York economy. But the bureaucrats he’s charged with managing the Buffalo Billion are refusing to account for how they are spending $855 million earmarked for the program’s big-ticket projects.

Jill Repman — formerly known as Jill Parisi — has been paid more than a half million dollars since being accused of tampering with the fire department payroll in 2016. The allegation against her was never resolved and she's worked at a private-sector job while continuing to collect a check from the city.

City Hall under Mayor Byron Brown is a chronic violator of the state's Freedom of Information Law, routinely ignoring requests for public records from the press and citizens.
