Liza Donnelly will join Sree’s Sunday #NYTReadalong to tell us about an exhibition she curated at the Society of Illustrators, “Drawn From The New Yorker: A Centennial Celebration.” The exhibition is open until May 3. Sree had the chance to see the exhibit earlier this year. Click here for the NYT Special Section on 5 Years of Covid. (.pdf, 2 MB)

Steve Taylor

We will also take time to remember our good friend and Digimentors colleague Steve Taylor, who passed away recently from a heart attack. He was a former producer on this show.

We will be live at 8:30 a.m. ET / 12:30 p.m. GMT / 6:00 p.m. IST (Sunday morning in the US, Sunday afternoon in the UK and Sunday evening in India). If you miss the show, you can always watch the replay, right on this page.

We will say a few words about Steve Taylor at the top of the show and then do a special tribute to him at 10am ET.

Drawn From The New Yorker

From her essay describing the exhibition, Liza wrote, “In the 100 years since its first issue, the art has been instrumental to The New Yorker’s success. From bold brushes to light lines, ink to charcoal, we witness creativity and humor at its best. The artists of The New Yorker have always had their pulse on culture and politics, often obliquely. They reflect what we are experiencing in our daily lives, they help us laugh. What could be a better way to understand ourselves?"

Liza also has a Substack, “Seeing Things,” where she sends out daily drawings. You can find it here:

Next Week (March 23): Raj Goyle, Phone Free New York
