*Prof. Mbele's closing remarks
There is so much to talk about this week. Trump and Vance kicking Ukraine to the curb. Voice of America’s Steve Herman under review. USAID being dismantled. The Economic Boycott on Friday. The planets are in alignment (literally). What does it all mean? Sree is back to host the Sunday #NYTReadalong and will walk us through the week’s news. Professor Joseph Mbele will be his guest. He’ll give us a global perspective on the week’s news and tell us about his work on folklores and more.
If you missed it, Sree's Sunday Note from Feb. 24, "The Perils of Kicking America's Allies to the Curb" was prescient.
We will be live at 8:30 a.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. GMT / 7:00 p.m. IST (Sunday morning in the US, Sunday afternoon in the UK and Sunday evening in India). If you miss the show, you can always watch the replay, right on this page.
Joseph Mbele, originally from Tanzania, is a professor of English at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. His focus is on post-colonial literature, specifically folk tales. He is fascinated by tales of tricksters, outlaws, and epic heroes, and has done folklore fieldwork in Kenya, Tanzania, and the USA. He has also studied in Hyderabad. He has a unique teaching style, borrowed from the storytellers he studies.
Africonexion

He also works to improve cross-cultural understanding, helping American businessmen, tourists, academics and travelers understand Africa and helping Africans understand America. Subscribe to Prof. Mbele's YouTube channel for more.
